Great article here from Anne Enright on her role as Laureate for Irish fiction. Her last event in this role was in Visual in Carlow so we had to be there.
It was a really special evening. Belinda McKeon read beautifully. Nicole Flaherty read a very quirky story. I loved it. Colin Walsh gave us his debut reading of a simple tale of a boy entering adulthood and very funny as well. Sally Rooney treated us to a tale of students philosophising on the lawn of Trinity. Anne Enright read her story, the Hotel, originally published in the New Yorker. A very clever take on the refugee crisis.
Little John Née played in between with some cute and perfectly short pieces. He played guitar, ukulele and accordian.
The ticket price of 5€ went to Peter Mc Veigh trust. After all of these short story treats, we were treated to more! Mince pies and mulled wine. An excellent night.
