Winter Papers 3. Here is one of my Christmas book hauls. Winter Papers is edited by Kevin Barry and Olivia Smith. If you read my blog, you will know how much Kevin Barry's writing is much loved so I'm very excited to receive a copy of this beautiful annual.
This year, it's a navy with gold lettering and mustard yellow sleeve. The paper is lovely. The font just rocks. The writing and photography is a real treat.
It's expensive at €40 but it's meant to last for the whole winter season, you know.Winter Papers 3. Here is one of my Christmas book hauls. Winter Papers is edited by Kevin Barry and Olivia Smith. Great article here from Anne Enright on her role as Laureate for Irish fiction. Her last event in this role was in Visual in Carlow so we had to be there.
It was a really special evening. Belinda McKeon read beautifully. Nicole Flaherty read a very quirky story. I loved it. Colin Walsh gave us his debut reading of a simple tale of a boy entering adulthood and very funny as well. Sally Rooney treated us to a tale of students philosophising on the lawn of Trinity. Anne Enright read her story, the Hotel, originally published in the New Yorker. A very clever take on the refugee crisis.
Little John Née played in between with some cute and perfectly short pieces. He played guitar, ukulele and accordian.
The ticket price of 5€ went to Peter Mc Veigh trust. After all of these short story treats, we were treated to more! Mince pies and mulled wine. An excellent night. The long night of the short story curated by Ann

The long night of the short story curated by Ann Enright in @visualgallery_carlow this evening! So excited that a full evening will be dedicated to the genre of the short story and that the writers are rocking!
